A giant spotlight shines upward into the night sky. You spot it and flee while your prestigious guests question, “Where did Bruce go?”
Alfred wishes you luck in a calm yet worried and wise way that only Michael Caine can. Your response is always the same: “They need me.” Then you strap yourself into the Batmobile and speed away.
Which obstacle lies ahead? Is it the Riddler? Cat Woman? Two-Face? Or is it the Joker this time? It doesn’t matter because either way, you are always needed.
The villains never vanish. You always just fight them as they come and then wait for the next one to manage.
Under the mask, you are a regular man. You have no special powers. You are not super human. You only have resources and motivation to help you defeat these villains.
You are driven to help because someone needs you.
Your resources are your experiences and your ability to mentor is nowhere near super human. But you still make a difference every time you are needed.
What if Gotham is the child without a mentor? What if the villains are everyday obstacles, whether it be trouble in school, relationship problems, peer pressures, or just life in general? Are you still going to help?
You had Alfred as your mentor. He was no more equipped to be a mentor than you, but he helped an orphan become a super hero.
This is the bat symbol in the sky. Gotham needs you.
You don’t have to be a superhero to make a difference.
